a. The focal point for planning, implementing and reporting of the following activities: Provide professional direction to the lower levels, inspect, supervise, and provide technical assistance on prevention and control of epidemics and infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, zoonotic diseases, emerging diseases; monitor developments and forecast epidemics and diseases; respond to epidemic, disease and public health emergencies; use of vaccines, medical biologicals and vaccinations in 11 central provinces from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan (hereinafter referred to as the Central region for short).

b. Collaborate to provide information, communication; monitoring pathogens, risk factors; preventive treatment and management of public health; scientific research, international cooperation; application of related scientific and technical advances; training to improve professional and technical capacity in the field of infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS.

c. Perform other tasks assigned by the Director.
